Women in Sports - The movie "A League of Their Own" showcases the rise of women in the sports industry. In World War II, women were selected to play baseball because men were in combat overseas. The game was struggling and women played into the 1950's. Today women do not play baseball, but focus their talents on many other sports. This movie is a tale about how women rose up during a time of adversity and proved they could compete on a national stage. Womens basketball, soccer, field hockey and golf are just some of the many sports women have found success in. We should be very proud that women had this opportunity and continue to play a prominent role in sports today!
